Mathew has over 25 years in the insolvency and reconstruction sectors, including 12 years with big 4 firms in Melbourne, Perth and overseas. More recently as a Liquidator and Bankruptcy Trustee working in smaller firms, Mathew ensures that directors, their accountants, and lawyers negotiate with creditors who are fully aware of their options and the associated risks.

Career Highlights and Key Expertise
Mathew has assisted directors and other stakeholders in successful advisory appointments, from the workout of a listed investment bank with over $1.0 billion in assets to managing favourable supplier relationships for a major automotive OEM.
In the personal insolvency area Mathew has assisted numerous individuals in negotiating Personal Insolvency Agreements (Part X) with their creditors. Mathew has also acted as Trustee in Bankruptcies where the debtor has not been in a position to offer a compromised proposal.

CHRISTINE CANTWELL
SENIOR MANAGER
Christine has over 15 years of experience as an insolvency professional specialising in formal corporate insolvency appointments of small to medium enterprises, restructuring and corporate recovery assignments, personal insolvency administrations and business advisory matters.
As senior manager, Christine works closely with Mathew to manage a wide range of formal insolvency appointments including voluntary administrations, liquidations, receiverships, bankruptcies, and personal insolvency agreements. She liaises with key stakeholders and client creditors to seek the best outcome.
Christine's role involves a wide range of tasks from assisting the trading of businesses, the preparation of correspondence to stakeholders in insolvency administrations, including preparation of reports to creditors and assisting with detailed insolvency investigations.

JAMES TUCKER
SUPERVISOR
James joined CJG in 2024 becoming a valuable part of our management team. James has over 6 years of experience as an insolvency professional working in Melbourne. He specialises in formal corporate insolvency appointments of small to medium enterprises and liaisons between parties with conflicting positions for the best outcome.
James works closely with Mathew and Christine to manage the wide range of formal insolvency appointments including voluntary administrations, liquidations, receiverships, small business restructuring, bankruptcies and personal insolvency agreements.
His role incorporates the preparation of correspondence to stakeholders in insolvency administrations, including the preparation of reports to creditors, and assisting with detailed insolvency investigations.
James is also responsible for overseeing of the caseloads of staff and providing training and support for the team.
ALEX BRENDISH
ACCOUNTANT
Alex commenced with CJG in 2022. as an UnderGraduate. He Completed his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne in 2024. Alex works collaboratively with the accounting staff across a wide range of formal insolvency appointments including voluntary administrations, liquidations, receiverships, bankruptcies, and personal insolvency agreements. Alex has responsibility for liaising between the clients and the managers on appointments ensuring clear and timely communication and completion of tasks. His friendly and professional manner is an asset to our firm.
JANINE FINEGAN
OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
Janine provides support for the professional staff, completing clerical tasks and managing the practice administration. She is often the first point of contact for incoming calls and general inquiries and liaises between clients, stakeholders and professional staff to ensure prompt communication and appropriate response.
HERMIONE LIU
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Hermione joined the CJG team in 2022. She is currently completing her honours in Psychology following attaining a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne. Hermione assists our accounting team using her friendly and helpful customer service skills to liaise between our clients and accounting managers. Her organisational skills and attention to detail ensure that all key information is communicated and processed in a timely manner.
